At the time of writing this post, did not feature on any of the major Search Engines for any of their keywords, except for the keyword: “Back Link Gear” which they are positioned at no 1 on

A few things to note about the site:
1. The site is very young. It was registered on 1 June 2012.
2. The site has 70 pages indexed by Google on the 22nd of October 2012.
3. The site was developed in Word Press.

The first step of our evaluation is to look at the current link profile of the site. We were able to obtain this information from Google WebMaster tools and also tools such as: and The results from these websites were not the same. The Free Yahoo Site Explorer used by almost every website owner and Search Engine Optimization specialist is no longer available from today (22 November 2011).

According to Yahoo: “With the completion of algorithmic transition to Bing, Yahoo! Search has merged Site Explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools. Webmasters should now be using the Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure that their websites continue to get high quality organic search traffic from Bing and Yahoo!”. Unfortunately Bing does not provide the same information as what Yahoo offered, and hopefully another company with step into this market to provide backlink information.

Majestic has offered their data at a premium rate of $250 per month. This is a bit steep for most of us that just want to view a few backlinks for our competitors.

Well, cant wait to see who will fill this gap in the next few months with a free service to discover links to websites.

Exactly 3 months after the last Google PageRank update in August, Google has updated the Google PageRank yet again. We have jumped from a PR3 to PR4 for, however, stayed the same on a PR3.

Why is PageRank important?

The value of the Google PageRank usually displayed on the Toolbars, hence the Toolbar PageRank, is a measure on how important Google thinks your site is on the Web.

When can we expect the next Google PageRank Update?

As always, it is extremely difficult to determine when the next Google PageRank Update will occur. With the current trend, hopefully within the next 3 months, but as we have seen, no one can say for sure. We will however keep an eye on our rankings, and let you know when we see changes in the PageRank of the sites we monitor.

  • First thing you have to do is do a proper keyword research. Find the keywords that are relevant to your site, and find high traffic, with low competition keywords. Use Google AdWords Keyword tool or
  • For new sites do not try to optimize for phrases that is only one or two words long. Competition is too big, and you do not have enough “authority” to take on the big boys.
  • We always optimize a single page per keyword / Phrase, and then link to that page from the rest of the site with the title of that page as the anchor text.
  • Build links to the content from external sites. Do not buy links! You will get penalized if you do that. Rather request related sites if you can post an article to their site (with unique content), with 1 to 3 links back to your site (with do follow links).
  • Content must be related to the page you are optimizing for on both your site and the sites linking to you.
  • Even thou posting articles to Article website still work, they will not have a very big impact on your site’s rankings in the future, especially after the recent Google Panda updates.
  • Same goes for Blog Comments.
  • Please send us your suggestions

This beginners guide to Search Engine Optimization will be short and sweet. We do not really want to explain why we propose some of the suggestions in this Post. Feel free to send us comments if you do not agree with any of the suggestions we are making. We will divide this article into 2 parts. Firstly we will look at Onsite optimization, and secondly Offsite Optimzation.

NB: Before you can even start with Optimizing your website for Search Engines, you need to first do proper Keyword Research.

    Onsite optimization

    1. Content is King

Without content Search Engines will not rank your site for the keywords you would like to get rankings for. Having unique content is extremely important. Spun articles might seem like a viable option, but in our experience, it might work for the first few months, but after that you will find that your rankings will drop and you will probably receive a penalty on your domain. The are enough freelance copywriters out there that will give you a decent article on most topics. Always test these articles that they are not duplicates or spin articles.

    2. Structure your content the way Search Engine want to see it

Search Engines need a way to identify what your site is all about. That is why Search Engines look for specific tags in the HTML code to determine what your page is all about. Depending on the Search Engine, they will assign different weights to each tag, but the basics are as follow (Top most important):

  • Title tag – This is the Title that will be displayed in your webpage. It is extremely important to have the main keywords in the Title tag. Keep it short (maximum 64 characters).
  • Url – The actual url should also contain the keywords you are optimizing for.
  • Heading Tags (H1, H2, H3, H4, H5 and H6)
  • Bold Tags and italic tags
  • Internal Links – Links between pages on the same site. Remember to always use descriptive link text. Never link with “Click here” or “More” except if you have no other choice.
  • Description meta tag – this tag does not play such a big role in Search Engine Optimization anymore, because people misused it. However some of the search engines use it to display on the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPS) below the title of your website.
  • Offsite optimization

Offsite optimzation is all about link building. If content is king, then Links are definitely Queen.

    1. Build Links from external sites

You need links from different domains, and if you want to get technical, from different C Class IPs.

    2. Build links from pages with related content

Links from pages with related content is extremely important. Any kind of link will help but related links will tell the search engine exactly what your site is all about.

    3. Never buy links

Search engines can easily determine if you are buying or selling links from your site. If you do this, you will get penalized and can event be removed from the Search Engines’ index. There are many different ways of getting links without buying them.

    4. Keep links natural

You need to build links to your site in a natural way. If you create a lot of links in one week, and nothing the next, search engines will pick it up, and discard the links that were build in the first week.

What are some effective techniques for building links? – YouTube

Last night we received an email from a very unhappy website owner for one of the domains we list keywords stats for on our website  Threatening us with legal actions if we do not remove the “bad adult related” keywords his site is ranking for.  We quickly checked why we have these keywords linked to his website, because we only want to list keywords that are most relevant for each domain.

After a quick search, we found that the website contained a guestbook page which was un-moderated, and behold, all of these keywords appeared on the page.  For some reason, Google decided that this website should rank high for these keywords, thus resulting in us displaying these keywords for the domain.  Needless to say, we did remove the site, and notified the site owner on how to rectify the problem.

That is why Web Stats Checker is such a nice tool for website owners.  To quickly see how Search Engines see their site and be able to take action accordingly.

We do take it very serious to make sure we list the correct keywords for each domain.  We have also build in some thresholds into the system to determine if a website contains “bad” words.  We do not display “bad” words within the stats of a website if the site is not below the threshold, preventing us from running into these situations.  However one the site exceed the threshold value, we list the bad keywords for the website with the good keywords.

We do however ask, that if you find incorrect keywords linked to your domain to please let us know ASAP, so we can fix the problem.

We usually get the question, how can I get Top Search Engine Ranking for my website for a specific keyword or phrase.  Is there a magical formula?

Well, here is the answer, and believe it or not, it is this short:

You need the right content.  Yes, content containing the keyword on the page.  You will be surprised to see how many people complain that they are not ranking for their keywords, and then when you check the website, you find that they never even mention the keywords on their site.  Or the webpage’s heading might contain the keywords, however nowhere in the content do they ever mention the keywords again.  This is very important to get Top Search Engine Ranking.

Also using variations of the keyword in the content will help, especially if you don’t want to make the site look too spammy.  You will find a lot of tools on the web to assist with determining the optimal keyword density.  Just do a quick “Keyword Density Tool” search in your favorite search engine.  But I prefer to not use one of these tools, because I also feel that I still want my content to look natural.  That said, if you are still a beginner in SEO, please feel free to use them until you get the hang of it.

So once you have created the content content, make sure you emphasize the important keywords.  As an example, we can use an existing page on this blog.

Example Page: Google drops Referrer Data | In the News | 19 October 2011

I’ve decided on using the keywords “Google drops referrer Data” as my keywords for the page.  I’ve used them in my title, my Heading, and in my Text.  I’ve also used parts of the keywords, e.g. Google, and Referrer, etc.  Well, is this enough.  Let’s see.  Search for the keywords in Google and hopefully the site will be up there among the first results.

To quickly check if this page is in the top 100 results, visit

But wait, if everyone else on the web are creating pages with exactly the same keywords, what will happen with my ranking?  Will my site still be in the top results of the search engines.  Well, that is where the magic comes in by creating good content for your site.  People will now link from their websites to your Article or Blog Post and by doing so, send good karma to your site in the form of Link Juice.  Google and other Search Engines pick this up and through their complicated algorithms they basically determine that your website is best for the keywords you have optimized for.

So, please let the magic happen, and lets see what it takes for this page to become no one on the Search Engines.

Please leave a comment and let me know how you are doing with your sites.

In summary, to get Top Search Engine Ranking you need to create new interesting content, optimize the page so the Search Engines can easily identity the most important words in the Content, and by doing this, receive a lot of links back to the page from other websites on the internet.

We have a unique way of finding Keyword Suggestions in Web Stats Checkers. We first do a search for all the domains of the keywords. We then use all of the domains and retrieve their keywords. We then display the number of Keywords ordered by the most overlapping keywords. This is the score we are referring to on the Keyword Research Page.
